Ballet Arkansas invites you to an extraordinary evening celebrating A Decade in Motion - ten seasons of transformative leadership by Michael and Catherine Fothergill, recipients of this year’s Above the Barre Award.​ 

 

Held within the William Grant Still Ballroom at the Robinson Center, this year’s Turning Pointe Gala, Ballet Arkansas’s signature celebration, will unfold as an elevated evening of artistry, elegance, and distinction, thoughtfully conceived to honor a defining decade while offering a strikingly modern vision of what lies ahead.  For a special portion of the evening, guests will move beyond the ballroom and into the Robinson Center performance hall for an exclusive live performance on stage, featuring Company Artists in selections representing the very best of Ballet Arkansas’s current season and landmark works from the past decade.

The evening celebrates a period that has fundamentally reshaped Ballet Arkansas. Under the Fothergills’ leadership, the organization has grown substantially in artistic and institutional scale, expanded its professional company, established the Ballet Arkansas School for Dance, broadened its reach throughout the state and beyond, and developed a world-class repertory spanning the great classics, masterworks of American dance, and creations by many of today’s leading choreographic voices. Ballet Arkansas is now recognized by the Dance Data Project among the 75 largest ballet companies in the United States, within a national landscape of more than 800 ballet organizations.

A Decade in Motion will look backward only long enough to reveal what comes next. Throughout the evening, guests will experience the history, artistry, and people behind Ballet Arkansas’s remarkable evolution before being introduced to the organization’s next era. The celebration will culminate with the unveiling of the 27|28 Season, including its new promotional imagery and a first look at what is planned to be Ballet Arkansas’s grandest season to date.
