BA SEEKS LITTLE ROCK'S GREATEST LOVE STORY WITH #LRLovestory CAMPAIGN

Ballet Arkansas is excited to announce a community-wide search for Little Rock’s greatest love story in celebration of its upcoming performances of Romeo & Juliet at the Robinson Center in February 2024. Beginning in January and leading up to Valentine’s Day, Arkansans are invited to share their love stories on social media by tagging Ballet Arkansas and using the hashtag #LRLovestory.

On February 1st, Ballet Arkansas will select one lucky couple to win a bottle of fine wine, signed cast poster, and two complimentary tickets to the Valentine’s Day performance of Romeo & Juliet, featuring live music by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, including a backstage tour.

Ballet Arkansas will present Romeo & Juliet at the Robinson Center on the following dates:

  • Friday, February 14, 2025, at 7:30 PM

  • Saturday, February 15, 2024, at 2:30 and 7:30 PM

  • Sunday, February 16, 2024, at 2:30 PM

This production of Romeo & Juliet carries special meaning for Ballet Arkansas’ Executive and Artistic Director, Michael Fothergill, and Associate Artistic Director, Catherine Fothergill. The couple met and fell in love while cast in the title roles of Romeo & Juliet in 2014 while Principal Dancers with the Alabama Ballet. Their connection deepened during rehearsals, and they became engaged a year later.

“Romeo & Juliet is not just a paramount production for Arkansas audiences to enjoy — it represents the start of our love story,” says Michael Fothergill. “This ballet is perfect for those who love Prokofiev’s timeless score, dramatic storytelling, and dancing filled with power and depth. Ironically, it’s also ideal for anyone who loathes Valentine’s Day and wants to see the star-crossed lovers meet their tragic end.”

"This classic tale of forbidden love and destiny promises to captivate audiences with its sweeping choreography, emotional depth, and elaborate costumes and sets" Catherine Fothergill says. "Not to mention it features a community cast of more than 100 performers. It's a true coming together of communities throughout the Natural State."

"Catherine is, and always will be my Juliet. Staging the production together for Ballet Arkansas will create a new connection to a work that has shaped our relationship. We are eager to hear the love stories of Little Rock Residents and to celebrate the theme of the perfect Valentine's Day production in a unique way."
