Associate Artistic Director

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Catherine trained at the Alabama Dance Academy, and Alabama Ballet Center for Dance before completing her studies with the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet under Marcia Dale Weary. Catherine joined the Louisville Ballet, and shortly thereafter, the Alabama Ballet, where she danced as a Principal ballerina for over a decade. Catherine danced leading roles in the all of the paramount classical ballets, and in numerous works by esteemed choreographers Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, Agnes De Mille, Frank Staff, Jirí Kylián, Twyla Tharp, and Antony Tudor, among others.

 

Catherine frequently travels throughout the United States and abroad as a sought after guest instructor, repetiteur and ballet mistress. She has taught for esteemed organizations of classical ballet, professional ballet companies, semi-professional academies, and university dance programs. She has taught multiple levels of the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and has passed numerous students with distinction. Catherine has assisted in the staging of works for Japan Ballet Association, Balleteatro Nacional de Puerto Rico, and Les Ballets de France. Within Japan, Catherine has served as a guest instructor and ballet mistress for the Takako Classical Ballet, Chida Toshiko Ballet, and Hiroko Masuya Classic Ballet, and was a ballet mistress for the 37th annual Zendo Ballet Festival. She is a frequent guest instructor for the Cecchetti Council of America and is currently a guest artist in residence at the University of Arkansas - Little Rock Department of Theatre Arts and Dance.

 

Catherine joined the team at Ballet Arkansas with her husband Michael in July of 2017 as the Associate Artistic Director, after giving her final performances with the Alabama Ballet. In addition to staging the majority of the organization's repertory and managing all education and outreach endeavors, Catherine oversees all elements of the organizations marketing and branding. Since her arrival, BA has doubled its educational programming, now enjoying dramatic increases in program enrollment and gross ticket sales. Her dynamic approach to creative content branding has earned her nods from some of the nation's leading marketing executives. Catherine graduated summa cum laude from The University of Alabama at Birmingham with degrees in Sociology and International Studies. She enjoys travel, time with her family, and making her mark on City of Little Rock.
